Drs. Keith Kaufman and Tim Pineau (along with Dr. Carol Glass) developed the Mindful Sport Performance Enhancement (MSPE) mental training program and founded the MSPE Institute, which provides training and consultation to promote greater success, satisfaction, and well-being in sport and other realms of performance (e.g., performing arts, business). In this podcast, Keith and Tim discuss various topics related to mental training, mindfulness, peak performance, and optimal experience for a wide range of performers -- from recreational to elite, kids to adults. They offer practical tips and exercises from their own work, and interview other top-level experts to highlight effective approaches to performance enhancement. Ep. 47: Mindfulness & Depression with Dr. Zindel Segal
In this episode, Dr. Zindel Segal joins the conversation.
Dr. Segal is a distinguished professor of psychology in mood disorders at the University of Toronto - Scarborough. He has pioneered the use of mindfulness meditation for promoting wellness in the area of mood disorders and been funded continuously through the National Institute of Mental Health and the Canadian Institute of Health Research for the past 15 years. He is the author of over ten books and more than 200 publications, including Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression, The Mindful Way Through Depression, and The Mindful Way Workbook. Dr. Segal continues to advocate for the relevance of mindfulness-based clinical care in psychiatry and mental health.
